Alex - Distinctive Dummies

A few months ago a friend of mine introduced me to Distinctive Dummies work. Situated in Thailand & run by only two people, they're hand crafted figures are amazing! They'd just released a Travis Bickle figure & the back of the figure card teased an upcoming Alex DeLarge. I made it my mission to acquire one! I contacted Distinctive Dummies directly to find out when it was due for release & saved up. I waited for months & when the notification e-mail arrived, I had mine ordered within 15mins of it's release!
The product images left me eager for my figure to arrive. The attention to detail is obvious.

These are the original product images

This amazing figurine has made up for one I missed out on earlier this year(don't ask... I'm still all depressed about it :P). Articulated, real fabric clothing & just an amazing interpretation of the character!
Due to space issues, I chose to remove him from his box(though i may one day change my mind). This is only my 2nd articulated Alex figurine(there are numerous others that exist), but definitely not disappointing!

Definitely one of the most brilliant items in my collection! I'm incredibly glad I had a couple of spare doll stands kicking around. Managed to JUST squeeze it into my cabinet. Some serious reorganising needs to be done! I don't think I'll be gaining much more this year for my collection. Christmas is on it's way & I'm hoping to move next year, so I need to start saving(of course, I say this, but it probably won't stop me!). But this figure was a nice way to end my acquisitions for the year(this will not stop me blogging by the way, things to get framed etc. which I'll be sharing)!

Mexican Toys - Homer Parodies - Alex

Here's a little something I stumbled across on eBay recently. A Homer Simpson Alex parody. Now, don't quote me on this, but from all my hunting, I'm pretty sure they're made by a company/artist called 'Mexican Toys'. They do parodies of all sort of characters, justice league for example, but Alex is of course where, my interest lay.

It's a beautiful item, a smooth paint job, the walking stick is a loose accessory, slides into the left hand & it's about 5.5inches tall. Overall a stunning figure, I'm incredibly pleased with it. By far one of the greatest items I've found on eBay all year.

I'm unsure how limited they are, I only found a few sites listing them, or with details about them. My suggestion if you want one, seek one out as soon as possible. The eBay seller I bought from claimed they were handmade(though there's no artist signature & I personally wonder, considering the perfectly smooth quality of the paint), so there's a chance the numbers are very low. I think it's a wonderful piece, completely worth adding to ones collection.

Fashion Victim Sybil or 'Living Dead Devotchka'

So, you might be wondering why I'm doing a post about a Living Dead Doll. Well, the very first ACO item I ever bought(besides the movie & book) was the Living Dead Doll Fashion Victim Sybil. Also, posting about items I don't own,(or may never own) was starting to get me down a little, so I thought I'd discuss something I DO own & still love.

Now, from the front, you may think this is just another of LDDs many psychotic dolls... though perhaps with a little less clothing then usual.

But turn the box around & take a closer look & we find an entirely different outfit & the reason I think of Sybil as a fellow droog & why I consider her my first official ACO collectable.

Currently, my Fashion Victim Sybil is at the Queensland Museum, amongst many of my other items(including some of my ACO collection). Part of an exhibit called 'Collectomania'. I'll be blogging about it in a week or two, when I get new photos.
