CRM Toys - Crime Cure Boy

Fair warning, this is gonna be a long one!

Sometime before 2003(I'm unsure of the exact year & trust me, I have HUNTED for this information... It may have been as early as the 90s!), a company called CRM Toys created a handful of figurines which they sold at Superfest(Tokyo).
CRM, or more specifically 'CRM 114', is a recurring series of letters & numbers in Stanley Kubrick films. In A Clockwork Orange for example, the serum used in the Ludovico Technique is named 'Serum 114'.
CRM Toys really is a pretty brilliant brand name, particularly if one of your major focuses is characters from Kubrick movies!
Over the years CRM Toys did two runs of their Alex Delarge figure, which they called 'Crime Cure Boy'. The first came in coloured packaging & the second release came in black and white packaging. No one really knows for sure, but there's a estimated 70-100 of each figure in existence. Each figurine was available for just 24 hours.

These figures have become more & more scarce as the years went on. I honestly never expected to own one, until I saw one in black & white packaging on ebay at a price I couldn't ignore! I decided to dip into my savings to buy it(& no, I won't be elaborating on how much I paid for it!)!
It's always a little unnerving buying something so expensive, but in this case it turned out to be ABSOLUTELY worth it! I opened the package & the first thing I saw was 'scribbling' on the front of the box, which was honestly a bit concerning! Two seconds later my brain realised it was a Malcolm McDowell autograph(which I have had a friend confirm)!!! This was NOT mentioned in the ebay listing(they in fact neglected to include a image of the front of the box) & honestly, I'm just blown away by this extra addition to my purchase!

Besides a small tear in one of the tabs that slides into the box, the packaging is in surprisingly good condition considering it's age. The box art is fantastic, covered in quotes from the film & a black and white redition of the figure itself.
Additionally, of the three accessories included, the hat & walking stick are still sealed in their original packaging! The mask, oddly, still has one of it's eyes attached(i'm guessing a factory error), which I honestly kinda love. It adds to the uniqueness of my own personal figurine! There will never be any confusion over who this particular figure belongs to!

Please excuse the shitty photo!

All CRM Toys figurines are 12 inches tall(1/6 scale) hand painted & hand-sewn. A lot of people seem to have issues with the paint work on these figures, but I personally love the simplicity, as it dosen't steal from the brilliant scult work! This figure is jointed & in fact, I've read that apparently even the fingers can be articulated! Making this a extremely versatile & poseable toy!

I still can't beleive I own this figurine! It's honestly one of those items I knew existed, but never thought I would possess. It's going to take me months to replace the money from my savings & it was completely worth it!
I'm personally still undecided how I'll display this, though I deifnitely think it's one of those times the packaging will be part of the aesthetic! Plus side, I do believe I have a spare figure-stand stashed somewhere, but I'll definitely need to move a few things around to fit it into one of my cabinets. It may even be time to upgrade to something taller!
Now that this figure has been successfully knocked off my grail list, it's time to get back to the endless hunt for the others!

Alex Delarge POKIS - SD Toys

I do regular google searches(as mentioned in many previous blog posts), mainly for new toy releases. A couple of weeks ago this resulted in me finding the cutest fucking ACO toy I've ever seen! I then spent a day or two hunting for a site that would actually ship to Australia & wasn't charging a insane shipping price. These efforts were very fruitful!
I present the Alex Delarge Pokis by SD Toys! The cutest damn figurine in the world!

(Images of unbox toy from Figurines Rock)

I ended up ordering this from Figurines Rock who were offering the best price(also the euro exchange rate isn't too painful right now, which is nice!). I've been aware of their site for a while(they had a orignal ACO resin figure, tragically I never acquired one) & I was stupid-happy they had this little figure in stock!

This is made from rigid rubber & it stands at approximately 7cm tall with his hat & stand. This is one of my smallest A Clockwork Orange items I own! What's even more ridiculous, is that it comes in a window box! The box itself is only 8.5cm tall! All adding to the adorableness that is this toy!

I can't get over what a cutie this little minifig is! I'm so happy I found it!

You can find SD Toys at their website, or on their facebook & Instagram.
If you want to buy this figure & get a good price, it's still available from Figurines Rock & I highly recommend them!

Amazing X-tend-O Droogie - Chainsaw Estates

After a very long hiatus(I had image hosting troubles), I'm attempting to get this blog back up & running! So without further ado, here's something new:

Jess Wroblewski of Chainsaw Estates is a member of my A Clockwork Orange Collectors group on facebook & shared his latest creation with the members a few weeks ago. I expressed how awesome I thought his droogie was & he offered to post me one!
It arrived on X-mas eve! A lovely little x-mas treat for me!

(video of a Droogie in action, courtesy of Jesse Wroblewski himself!)

The "X-tend-O Genuine Old Fashioned Crappy Scissor Toy Droogie" are a limited edition of just 25 pieces & are only $15 USD each! A bargain price for a bit of silly fun! I love adding something quirky & different to my collection & this toy definitely fills that critieria.

The "Amazing X-tend-Os" retro toys are what I think of as "Craptastic"! So crap(a sentiment the artist himself agrees with if what's written on the packaging is a honest expression of his feelings about his work!), but also so very necessary in my life! This dumb thing made me stupidly happy!

I'm still debating opening it, or leaving it in packaging. The endless mental battle of the collector! For now it'll remain packaged I think, but the temptation to play with it is very strong!!!

These amusingly crappy toys are still available in the Chainsaw Estate store. Including a selection of other fun designs!

You can also check out more of Chainsaw Estates work on instagram

Jesse also makes one-of-a-kind snowglobes & HAS made a A Clockwork Orange one! I'll be blogging about that piece of epicness in the future(just to drop a teaser on you all!)!

Clockwork Pino - Fools Paradise

What do you do when a amazing toy is available for pre-order & you're poor as fuck? Ask a friend! And that's exactly what I did to achieve the acquisition of this beast of a toy!
I've always found the toys Fools Paradise produce truly beautiful. Amazingly impressive pieces, in size & quality. When I learned they were releasing a A Clockwork Orange toy, I'd say my first reaction was desperation! I HAD to have this toy!

The same friend who helped me buy my Nadsat Boy last year, was glad to help me order my Pino! Then it was just a short 8 month wait to receive my toy...

Pre-ordered back in August, it finally arrived this week! This toy is truly remarkable! I'm pretty sure it's the largest toy I own! So massive in fact, that I had to start a new A Clockwork Orange shelf to fit it amongst my collection! It did give me a good excuse to dust however...

Approximately 30cm tall, made from vinyl & PVC. Originally $298 USD & limited to 498 pieces worldwide. The wrists are articulated, which made it reasonably easy to slide the walking stick between it's hands.
The juxtaposition of Disney & Kubrick amuses me greatly. As my sister phrased it "It's disturbing... so cutesy", which sums it up nicely I think. Though I'm sure we can all agree that Jiminy was always dressed in 'the height of fashion', just waiting to tolchock someone with that umbrella of his!

It occurs to me I should have done a unboxing video(not that I'm entirely sure how to do that). The packaging truly is impressive! But I've stashed it away & I'm too lazy to pull it back out again! But we're not here for the box anyway, we're here for the toy, which is truly one of the most beautiful things on my shelves! Alex said it best:

Oh bliss, bliss and heaven... Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh...

This toy has sold out, but you can check out Fools Paradise on their site, instagram & facebook.

Alex DeLarge - Vinyl Idolz

This will be a short blog(just another 'catch-up' post). I've been after one of these since Evil Corp originally shared a image of the design. I was so excited when they started producing toys! Thankfully they've chosen to produce some amazing characters so far & Alex is amongst them!

Last year I went to the Brisbane Supanova. I bought many things. Australia lacks variety in toys, mostly Funko & Kidrobot, but sometimes that's ok! I managed to get a little something to cover most of the realms of pop culture I indulge in!

The pinnacle item of course, was my Alex DeLarge Vinyl Idolz figure! I bought it from Popcultcha(their con booths are EPIC!). I LOVE this toy! I love the sculpt design, the smooth lines, even the paint work is quite impressive(for a Funko release).
I love that Evil Corp decided on a simple, symmetrical pose. It brings a nice contrast to the aspects of Alex's outfit that are asymmetrical.

I highly recommend the Funko Vinyl Idolz figures! Evil Corp designs are some truly aesthetically pleasing stuff!

You can check out more of Evil Corps work on their website or on their facebook!

Popcultcha no longer have the Alex DeLarge Vinyl Idolz in stock, but they do have multiple other ACO items currently available! I recommend checking out their catalogue, even international shipping tends to be quite reasonable!

Now I'm officially all caught-up with my blog! I promise to never fall so behind again! Keep an eye out for more up-coming posts. Lots of new things on there way to me that I'm eager to share!

Living Dead Dolls - A Clockwork Orange Alex

I was caught off guard by this doll, both when it was announced & when it arrived! Didn't expect it to arrive for another two weeks & I honestly never thought this toy would exist! I pre-ordered at the beginning of June from popcultcha. It arrived about a month ago(I totally procrastinated on this blog), much sooner then I expected.

I'm so pleased by the packaging! I expected a generic Living Dead Doll coffin box, but apparently they've gone a bit more specific with their film-based dolls! Nice open window, amazing shade of orange & the classic hat/eye logo!

The doll is 10 inches tall(like all Living Dead Dolls), the box is about 13 inches tall. This is definitely one of the more domineering pieces within my ACO collection. So big I can't fit it in any of my cabinets, so for now, it has a home on top of my main ACO display.

I've seen a few people complain about the 'child-like' appearance of this doll. Insane complaint of course, as almost ALL Living Dead Dolls have a 'child-like' base. I think it's quite adorable really. They got all the details right, the hat, the eyelashes, the walking stick(which I beleive DOES have a knife concealed within it!). I personally love the overall aesthetics of this doll!

Technically this is my 2nd 'A Clockwork Orange' related Living Dead Doll. My oldest ACO collectable is my Sybil 'Fashion Victim' Living Dead Doll, which I acquired when I was about 16. It came with an additional ACO inspired outfit! I blogged about it years ago: Living Dead Devotchka. It's were my interest in Living Dead Dolls began & this new Alex doll is the doll I had dreamed they'd one day make!

I was almost tempted to unbox this doll, just to get a decent photo... but I settled & you'll all just have to deal with my less-then-great photography! I've never unboxed a Living Dead Doll & in the end I decided to stick to those convictions!

I love this doll & I'm eager to see what other movie-inspired dolls Mezco Toys produce in the future! I'm already very tempted by the Pennywise doll they released recently! I'm optimistic they might consider a Jack Torrence doll one day too!
This Living Dead Doll isn't limited & it's still available everywhere! I highly recommend you all add one to your life!

'A Clock Orange' FilmFufu ABC Block Series - Tofufu

About 18months ago, I inquired with Tofufu about the potential for some droog art designs. Originally I just requested Alex DeLarge, eventually we settled on all four Droogs!
These took me longer to pay for then they should have(because i'm useless), but damn were they worth the wait! The 'work in progress' images taunted me as I made my payments:

A is for Alex DeLarge - G if for George - P is for Pete - D is for Dim
'A Clock Orange' FilmFufu ABC Block Series, printed on 10x10inch bamboo wood panels.

Honestly it's hard to really capture the overall effect of these, my photos really don't do them justice! I'm eager to get them on a wall to give them the space they deserve(& need)! Hopefully I'll be able to achieve some photography of a calibre more appropriate to this collection of adorable drooginess!

The orange background is a bit metallic & really hard to show off in a photo! My photos neglect to show of the colours & details as well. It's hard to emphasise the epic size of these in photos too. Now that I've render my photography meaningless; I guess you'll just have to buy some prints & find out for yourself how amazing these are ;P
I now have myself 20x20inches of shiny droogs on wood! These will be the only 'A Clock Orange' droogs printed on 10x10inch panels. They're going to be a unique & impressive addition to my walls!

The lovely folks at Tofufu threw in a bunch of extra goodies for me too(they helped keep down shipping costs for me too, by bringing the prints with them during a trip to Australia)! I love their mini prints, I think the designs are brilliant! 'Toy Happens', that's good stuff!

I couldn't be happier with how these turned out! A little bit of cute & a bit of the old ultraviolence!

Want to buy something? You can check out their store on their website & their store on etsy! You can find A is for Alex available already & I'm sure the other droogs will be available soon!

You can find Tofufu on facebook, instagram & Twitter.

Clockwork x Hello Kitty - Cinnamonroll by PlasticGod

I recently became aware that PlasticGod(formerly PlasticFucker) had produced more Hello Kitty prints! Including a A Clockwork Orange version of Cinnamonroll! Cinnamonroll is probably one of Sanrios cutest creations & truly adorable in any outfit really. Of course in this case, I had own this new vision from PlasticGod!
I managed to catch his post-Christmas sale which was wonderful. I'd actually forgotten about the print until it arrived today. So it was a nice little surprise!

This can be bought here: Clockwork x Hello Kitty

This is the third PlasticGod print I own so far(two bought from the artist, one I hunted down on ebay). I really love the small, but chunky style of the prints. I'm super happy to have a third PlasticGod print in my collection!

I'm now running out of space for these prints in my cabinet. I'll be seeking out an appropriate frame for them, so they can finally go on my walls! They'll look adorable once I achieve it!

On the subject of hanging art, I've recently hung a few more pieces in my home!

It's nice to make a dent in my pile of unhung artwork... all the while adding to the pile too! The endless bane of the art collectors life!

Hopefully I'll have a few new items to share soon! I've got a couple of figures on pre-order & a friend is working on a special custom for me! So expect more updates soon! Sorry it's been such a slow start to the year!

Alex - Distinctive Dummies

A few months ago a friend of mine introduced me to Distinctive Dummies work. Situated in Thailand & run by only two people, they're hand crafted figures are amazing! They'd just released a Travis Bickle figure & the back of the figure card teased an upcoming Alex DeLarge. I made it my mission to acquire one! I contacted Distinctive Dummies directly to find out when it was due for release & saved up. I waited for months & when the notification e-mail arrived, I had mine ordered within 15mins of it's release!
The product images left me eager for my figure to arrive. The attention to detail is obvious.

These are the original product images

This amazing figurine has made up for one I missed out on earlier this year(don't ask... I'm still all depressed about it :P). Articulated, real fabric clothing & just an amazing interpretation of the character!
Due to space issues, I chose to remove him from his box(though i may one day change my mind). This is only my 2nd articulated Alex figurine(there are numerous others that exist), but definitely not disappointing!

Definitely one of the most brilliant items in my collection! I'm incredibly glad I had a couple of spare doll stands kicking around. Managed to JUST squeeze it into my cabinet. Some serious reorganising needs to be done! I don't think I'll be gaining much more this year for my collection. Christmas is on it's way & I'm hoping to move next year, so I need to start saving(of course, I say this, but it probably won't stop me!). But this figure was a nice way to end my acquisitions for the year(this will not stop me blogging by the way, things to get framed etc. which I'll be sharing)!
