miniKUBREY - Monolith - Codeczombie

To my great surprise, Codeczombie started working on mini versions of his Kubrey sculpt a few months ago. I was so excited, but had to wait patiently for an online release(with one or two conventions releases to tease me in the meantime). The day finally arrived & Codeczombie released 3 different versions! Monolith(black), Redrum(red) & Typewriter(yellow).

Being poor, I had to settle on buying only one. I went with the Monolith version because currently I'm indulging a 2001: A Space Odyssey obsession, also who doesn't like black? I'm seriously considering saving up for the other two while they're still available.

Perhaps due to my continued patronage, Codeczombie send me an extra mini Kubrey! It was a fantastic surprise when I opened my package! I've been told it was intended to be orange, but as it was a colour trial, it turned out fleshy. Either way, it's a one-off & it's a wonderful new addition to my Kubrey collection!

I'm a huge fan of Codeczombies work. His skill with design & the excution of his ideas amazes me! I'm so proud to be the owner of some of his work & remain very excited to see what he creates in the future!

The new minis have found a home in my cabinet with my full-sized blank Kubrey. A lovely contrast of colours, that I can only hope to add more to in the future!

The mini Kubreys are still available, you can buy them here: miniKUBREY

I honestly couldn't recommend these little chunks of resin more! For only €25.00 they're a total bargain.

You can follow Codeczombie on facebook, instagram, Tumblr & Twitter.

Alex - Distinctive Dummies

A few months ago a friend of mine introduced me to Distinctive Dummies work. Situated in Thailand & run by only two people, they're hand crafted figures are amazing! They'd just released a Travis Bickle figure & the back of the figure card teased an upcoming Alex DeLarge. I made it my mission to acquire one! I contacted Distinctive Dummies directly to find out when it was due for release & saved up. I waited for months & when the notification e-mail arrived, I had mine ordered within 15mins of it's release!
The product images left me eager for my figure to arrive. The attention to detail is obvious.

These are the original product images

This amazing figurine has made up for one I missed out on earlier this year(don't ask... I'm still all depressed about it :P). Articulated, real fabric clothing & just an amazing interpretation of the character!
Due to space issues, I chose to remove him from his box(though i may one day change my mind). This is only my 2nd articulated Alex figurine(there are numerous others that exist), but definitely not disappointing!

Definitely one of the most brilliant items in my collection! I'm incredibly glad I had a couple of spare doll stands kicking around. Managed to JUST squeeze it into my cabinet. Some serious reorganising needs to be done! I don't think I'll be gaining much more this year for my collection. Christmas is on it's way & I'm hoping to move next year, so I need to start saving(of course, I say this, but it probably won't stop me!). But this figure was a nice way to end my acquisitions for the year(this will not stop me blogging by the way, things to get framed etc. which I'll be sharing)!

No. 227 by United Monsters

It was one of those times I was just randomly scrolling through Facebook, saw a post from a new friend I'd just added, thought the toys were cute & went to browse the store. Saw a bowler hat & upon closer inspection, realised it was a A Clockwork Orange inspired toy! A day later I contact them about shipping, a couple of days later I get an invoice & a week and a half later, I receive this most unusual & beautifully rendered toy!

Created by United Monsters in Korea(possibly my first Korean toy, i'm not sure). Made from concrete, a very unusual material for an art toy. It's a truly unique design concept.
They also went to great lengths with the presentation of this toy. The packaging is well though out & beautiful(you can check out the stickers in detail in their store). Really quite unexpected considering the very reasonable price of their toys.

All of their creations are numbered. This piece is No. 227.

The toys are covered in little details. The range is amazing! Their faces can also be removed & swapped with each other with is a nice touch. Nice to see a bit of fun thrown into a design & the vast variety of designed makes for some exciting combination possibilities!

Overall this is probably one of my favourite acquisitions this year. I'm really just blown away by the aesthetics of this piece & insanely happy that I stumbled across this little guy!
I highly recommend you go buy one of your own!

Kubrey by C O D E C Z O M B I E & Fancy Edition Ice Scream Man by Brutherford Industries

I have two new toys to share with you today. I know I've been a bit slack with my blogging recently(have another post I'm still working on, that technically, I should have posted about a month ago... but I'll get there), but I'm determined to put more effort in(few changes in my life lately, really need to find something to pass the time).
So anyway, back to the point. During some recent browsing, I ended up on ViciousFun(they constantly have things I want) & I noticed they had acquired a Fancy Pants Ice Scream Man.

Though I had no funds at the time, I instantly contacted them about international shipping & a couple of weeks later, it's mine! Really a stunning piece, all hand made by Brutherford Industries. It took me two years to hunt one down(in fact, it's one of the toys that inspired me to start this blog: here), but it was worth all that effort!!! Not technically 'A Clockwork Orange', but I read rumours that that's where the inspiration came from. Regardless, it shall live amongst my ACO pieces.

A few weeks ago I became aware of C O D E C Z O M B I E, just in time for them to release a Stanley Kubrick inspired toy called a 'Kubrey'. Three versions were created, Regular, DIY Blank & 5 FLUO figures(each a different colour).

Blank DIY version

I was greatly concerned I'd never acquire one, they're a little pricey for my usual cash flow. Thankfully I have some awesome friends & my best friend offered to purchase the blank version for me for my birthday. Last weekend he popped around with it & now it has a place in my cabinet(as you can see, my collection has migrated to the top shelf of my cabinet).

It's a stunning piece of resin. 4.3inches tall & surprisingly well balanced considering the size of the head(& the tiny size of the feet!). Truly one of the most amazing pieces I own! Eager to see what C O D E C Z O M B I E creates in the future.

Definitely toys worthy of my collection. I'm insanely happy about these acquisitions. Hopefully I'll have more new stuff to share soon. It's been one of those years where money has been a struggle, but that hasn't stopped me!
