Barson Edition Droog Bust

As per my usual, I apologise for the lack of posts this week. So now time to make up for it with something fantastic. My Barsom Edition Droog Bust arrived this week from Retro Outlaw. A beautiful edition to my collection, I simply love Retro Outlaws work. Sculpted by Barsom Manashian & molded by Chris Santoro. This is probably my favourite addition to my collection this year. The detail is amazing.

A few little extras were thrown into my package(I'm a repeat customer. Or one could perhaps use the word 'obsessed', in regards to my great need to own Retro Outlaws ACO inspired pieces). A couple of small items are always a nice surprise when one orders something.

For now, this bust finds it's home next to my 'Droog Leader'(also from Retro Outlaw, they have a few variations still available online). Hopefully I've found myself a new cabinet(potentially for free) that will be replacing my current one in the task of holding my ACO collection. So try to think of my occasional cabinet photo as a 'temporary home' kind of thing.

These busts are still available - here. Limited edition run of 100, 9inches tall & $120. They're worth every penny.

New Art & Another Toy I'll Never Own

I received a new piece of art in the post a couple of days ago, a sketch card by Fred Hembeck. A great artist, hilarious work. I was surprised when I found he was selling art on eBay, but ecstatic when I realised he'd sketched Alex DeLarge. I had to outbid a couple of people, as a result I paid a little more then I generally would for something so small. It's incredible in real life however & I'm glad I paid the price.

An additional thought, Frank Kozik has created a glow in the dark A Clockwork Carrot exclusive for San Diego Comic Con. Limited to only 50 pieces. It's unlikely I'll ever own one of these(this information did NOT improve my mood today). One day, probably a decade from now, I might actually make it to SDCC & pick up a few exclusives for myself.

This awesome new toy will be available from the 3dRetro booth(booth 5051) during the week. They'll have quite a few SDCC exclusives available at their booth(including the epic Evel Fett: Boba edition from Retro Outlaw). Be sure to stop by & spend copious amounts of money if you're one of those lucky ones heading to SDCC this year.

Stanley Kubrick at LACMA

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is currently hosting a Stanley Kubrick exhibition. Tragically it ends on the 30th of June(perhaps I should have started my blog & posted about this earlier!). I can only hope this collection makes it to Australia one day, as Los Angeles is a bit beyond me at this particular juncture in my life. The exhibition covers Kubrick’s career, from his early photographs for Look magazine, taken in the 1940s, to his directorial achievements of the 1950s through the 1990s. Lenses, scripts & props make up only a portion of the items displayed. Simply an amazing exhibition & one I wish I could visit... many times over.

Amongst the collection there is a wide selection of ACO items. As expected, these are the items I long to see the most. Like everything from Kubricks films, it's all incredibly visually pleasing. I'm in awe every time I look through these photos.

A Clockwork Orange

Lucy & the girls are there. She's such a stunning piece of art. What I wouldn't give to see her in real life one day. I guess for now, I'll have to settle for a wonderful selection of photos instead.

Lucy

Of course, ACO isn't the only film covered at the exhibition. Here's a few pictures of the other fantastic items amongst this collection of Kubrick heaven.

The Shining

Others

Definitely seems like one of those exhibitions I hope tours the world & one day makes it to Queensland Museum, opening up the opportunity of me actually seeing all this one day. I hope for all of those you made it there, that their day was thoroughly enjoyed(though I doubt it could end any other way).

A huge thank you to Chris Santoro(Retro Outlaw) & Barsom Manashian(Simian Productions) for letting me use their photos.

Recent Aquisitions or 'Look What's In The Mail!'

Recently I had a little splurging money, to buy a few of the new ACO items available & items I'd be considering for quite some time. One such item arrived today, so I thought I might share it, along with a few other items I'm currently waiting to recieve. Of course, like always, there are plenty of other items I'd like to buy right now... but money will allow for only so much. However, not a bad group of editions to my collection.

Just a little information about each item, incase anyone was interest:

1. A Clockwork Orange Usher Badge ~ This was a wonderful eBay find. Very rare item. Worn by ushers to advertise up-coming films. The seller has hundreds, almost all unused & ALL original. Mine arrived today... now I need to find a frame for it!

2. Droog Bust Barsom Edition by Retro Outlaw ~ Beautiful details bust sculpted by Barsom Manashian & poured by Chris Santoro. Yet another wonderful ACO-inspired piece from the guys at Retro Outlaw.

3. A Clockwork Carrot by Frank Kozik ~ Frank Koziks latest creation. I always enjoy his ACO creations(though still missing a few from my collection). I pre-ordered mine from Toy Art Gallery. I'm super excited about adding it to my cabinet, definitely a statement piece.
